Coconut Oil

Am I the last to know about this miracle substance known as coconut oil?? It is pretty much the greatest thing ever and has so many uses (making it worth every extra dollar). I picked some up at the grocery store (next to the PAM) and have used it everyday since. You can Google or Pinterest tons of uses for coconut oil, but here is how I’m using it:

Oil Pulling: So this totally grossed Alex out when he watched me put a big tablespoon of coconut oil in my mouth and squish it through my teeth. Oil pulling is an ancient technique used to draw out microorganisms from your mouth (gross right?!). I try to pull for about 20 minutes but sometimes it can be difficult. Some people say oil pulling improves your overall health, I’ll let you know if I see any long term effects.

Belly: Oh boy… the belly is big and needs lots of love. Every night I apply coconut oil and every morning I use coco butter. I’m hoping this combination will keep away itchy belly. Forewarning, the oil is greasy but it drys fast and smells awesome.

Hair: I feel like everyone knows about putting coconut oil in their hair so I won’t go into much detail, but I like to do it at night and apply mainly to my ends. I notice immediate results and typiclly the next day someone will comment about how soft my hair looks!

Next time you’re in the grocery store grab a tub of coconut oil and try out some of these uses. Whether it’s for cooking, removing makeup, trying to fit in your clothes, you will definitely be able to find a way to incorporate coconut oil into your life. Happy greasing up!
